ABOUT THE ARTIST

KANG KANG is the creative vision of Texas-raised artist Kierra Lewis, named in honor of her late grandmother, Sumlee Kang Kang (นางสำลี แข็งขั้น). Lewis is African-American, Thai, and Puerto Rican. Through her work, she gives physical form to emotion, whimsy, heritage, and spirituality.

Working across a vast range of mediums, Lewis turns to one source for creative power and edge: intersectionality.
